My course isn't listed. On the Courses tab, search the course directory, or tap + to add it by hand: the name, the tees, then the par and stroke index for each hole. Rating and slope are optional; without them everyone plays off scratch.

How is the course handicap worked out? Course Handicap = Handicap Index × (Slope ÷ 113) + (Course Rating − Par), rounded. New round shows each player's course handicap (CH), and the scorecard marks the holes each player gets a stroke on with a dot, so you can check it against your club's table.

How do I enter a plus handicap? Type it with a leading plus, for example +1.8. Plus handicaps give strokes back starting from the easiest hole.

A player picked up on a hole. On the scorecard, tap the player's name and choose Picked up. The hole records no score, which is different from zero. Each game handles it by its own rules; Stableford scores it as double bogey or worse (zero on Standard), Skins excludes the player from that hole, Stroke Play shows them as 'no card', and they can't win it.

I entered a wrong score three holes ago. Tap that hole in the row of holes at the top of the scorecard, or its column in the card below. That takes you back to that hole. Every game recalculates from the full card, so the standings correct themselves.

The app was closed mid-round. Reopen it. The round is saved on every tap, and Home shows it with Resume round.

Can I add a game after we've started? Yes. On the scorecard tap ⋯ → Edit games → Add a game. A new game scores from hole 1 using the scores already on the card. Games that need extra answers per hole, like Wolf, will show those holes as waiting until you fill them in.

Does the app pay people? No. It keeps a tally of points between players and stops there. It never holds or moves money between players.

What does it cost? Birdies & Bets is free to download, and keeping score and running the games is free. Some extra features may come with an optional monthly subscription. If they do, the price and how often you're charged are shown in the app before you buy, Apple takes the payment, and there are no other fees. The refund policy explains how to cancel.

Do I need an account? No. Tap Continue without an account and everything stays on your phone. Signing in with Apple or an emailed code keeps your rounds in sync between phones and brings them back when you change phones. You can sign in later from Profile.

How do I delete my data? In the app, open Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account. No app any more, or can't sign in? Delete your data explains how to ask by email and exactly what gets deleted.

Can kids use it? Birdies & Bets is for ages 13 and up. Younger golfers can still be on the card: a parent or another adult can add them as a player in their own round.
