Terms of Service

Birdies & Bets: Golf Scorecard · Effective 20 October 2026

These terms cover the Birdies & Bets app and this website, www.birdiesandbets.com. By using either one you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app or the site. How we handle your information is explained in our privacy policy.

Who we are

Birdies & Bets is made and run by St. Margaret’s Ventures Inc., a company based in Ontario, Canada. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean St. Margaret’s Ventures Inc., and “you” means the person using the app or the site. You can reach us at hello@birdiesandbets.com.

Points, not money

Birdies & Bets is a scorecard, not a gambling service. The app keeps score and shows a tally of points between players for the side games your group picks. It never takes, holds, moves or pays out money for the games, and it has no way to deposit, withdraw or transfer anything between players.

The points have no cash value. If players agree to settle anything among themselves outside the app, that is entirely between them: we are not a party to it, we don't check or enforce it, and the players are responsible for following the laws where they live and play.

Your account

You don't need an account to use the app. If you make one, keep your sign-in secure and tell us if you think someone else has used it. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Settings → Account → Delete account. You must be at least 13 to use the app, and old enough in your country to agree to these terms (or have a parent or guardian agree for you). If you are under 16, ask a parent or guardian before you turn on usage analytics.

Your scores and content

The rounds, scores, players, courses and notes you enter are yours. You give us permission to store, sync and show them only as needed to run the app for you, for example to keep them in your account and bring them back on a new phone. That permission ends when you delete them or your account.

When you add other players or share a scorecard, you are responsible for what you enter about them. If you add a child, make sure their parent or guardian is OK with it. Only share cards with the people you played with, and anyone who has a card's link can see it.

Using the app fairly

Please don't:

We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these rules.

Courses, handicaps and results

Course scorecards come from a third-party course database (GolfCourseAPI) and from players, and can be wrong or out of date, so check them against the card at the course. Handicap strokes and game results are worked out from what you enter. They are for friendly games among your group, not an official handicap record, and do not replace your golf association's handicap system.

Purchases and subscriptions

Some features may be offered as in-app purchases or subscriptions. They are sold through Apple's App Store, so Apple handles the payment and its terms apply to it. Before you buy, the app and Apple show the price and how often you'll be charged, and that is all you pay: we add no other fees. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your iPhone's Settings. If a subscription includes a free trial, it becomes paid when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. If we raise a subscription's price, Apple tells you first and, where the law requires, asks you to agree before charging the new price. Refunds are decided by Apple; our refund policy explains how to ask for one and how to cancel.

Our app and brand

The app, this website, the Birdies & Bets name and logo, and the app's design and code belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for your own golf. These terms don't give you any other rights in them. Birdies & Bets and the spade logo are trademarks of St. Margaret’s Ventures Inc.

Changes and availability

We keep improving the app, so features may change, and we may pause or stop parts of it, or the whole service. We'll try to give notice before shutting down account sync so you have time to keep your data. Parts of the app that depend on a connection, such as sync and course search, won't work without signal.

No guarantees

The app and the site are provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we make no promises that they will be error-free, uninterrupted or fit for any particular purpose, or that scores, course data or results will always be correct.

Limits on our liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or winnings, arising from your use of the app or the site, or from any arrangement between players. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or CA$50.

Some places don't allow these limits. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be excluded by agreement.

If you got the app from the App Store

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for it, and is not responsible for handling any claims about it, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Apple's standard licensed application end user license agreement also applies where these terms don't cover something. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Ending

You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account in the app. If we end your access because you broke these terms, the sections on content, our app and brand, no guarantees and limits on our liability still apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be decided by the courts of Ontario, unless the consumer protection laws where you live let you bring it in your local courts. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under those laws.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. If you keep using the app or the site after that, the new terms apply.
